Set Up

If you have a larger group, it's easier to break them into smaller groups of 3-4 people each.

Directions

Break your team into small groups of 3-4 people. Tell associate that they have 30 minutes to construct a story. It must have a beginning, middle and end and a main character. Throughout the exercise you will yell things that need be changed to their story. Here are some suggestions that you can call out throughout the exercise, but you can create your own . . .

1. Your story must include a beach. 2. Don’t talk for 3 minutes. 3. Add in an evil character. 4. Change the name of your main character. 5. Create a title. 6. Add a talking animal. 7. Come up with a creative ending.

Debrief

Each change that was called out altered the way your story was written. Is the story very different from your original design? What challenges did you come across? Even though your story was changed, it’s still a tale that you built together.
